Position Summary

The Teaching Assistant, Veterinary Technology (Vet Tech) position provides administrative, laboratory, and technical support to the faculty of the Vet Tech department. . This position serves to aid faculty in creating the most conducive learning environment in an effort to prepare our students for a career in the Veterinary Technology field.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Classroom Support

Provides classroom assistance to faculty, adjuncts, and students. Assists in maintaining Vet Tech lab cabinets including maintaining stock, organization of materials, ordering supplies, and preparing them for classes. Assists in preparing lab stations for faculty to support student learning

Customer Service

Answers general questions and provides information to student regarding course content, and resources available to students in need of assistance in determining course substitutions and prerequisite requirements, and other general information.

Administrative

Provides technical and administrative support for faculty, adjuncts and chairperson. Makes scheduling arrangements for classrooms and equipment. Orders, maintains, and distributes uniforms for students, staff, and faculty. Meets with faculty and staff to determine capital equipment needs, as needed.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Attend all department meetings and required trainings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in a closely related field and at least one (1) year of progressively responsible veterinary clinical experience. State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s). An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
