Location: This position will primarily work remotely, however, may occasionally work on campus based on department needs and district protocols.
Basic Function
Under the direction of the Covid Response Coordinator, the CICT is responsible for healthcare outreach to SBCC students, faculty, and staff. CICs will contact individuals to determine symptom history and other relevant health information; provide instructions for self-quarantine; and make appropriate referrals for testing, clinical services, and other essential support services. The position will require prioritization, prompt action, and attention to detail in documentation and data management as multiple investigations will be conducted simultaneously.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The position will require responding to COVID screening app notifications with rapid turnaround times for communication, initiation, and completion of cases. The position will require daily use of a computer, telephone, and access to a secure internet connection. The position may require both onsite and remote work activities while complying with all requirements for client confidentiality, records, and data security. The position may require working non-standard hours (i.e., evenings and weekends).
- Initiate prompt communication with people exposed to COVID-19 through phone calls, text, email, or other communication platforms as necessary.
- Employ empathetic communication and interpersonal skills, cultural competency/sensitivity, tactful language, and empathetic interviewing skills to build rapport and maintain trust with a diverse campus community from varying backgrounds.
- Verify the contact’s identity during initial communications and before disclosing confidential information.
- Assure confidentiality and carry out efforts to locate and communicate in a manner that preserves the confidentiality and privacy of all involved.
- Notify contacts of their exposure to COVID-19, following a script to provide general COVID-19 health education information or referrals. Conduct notifications of exposure promptly that maintain the confidentiality of the client and ensure the identity is not disclosed.
- Obtain and document relevant information, including class schedules, building access, or other information as needed to initiate case investigation and contact tracing.
- Utilize a computer, tablet, and/or phone with appropriate access to required applications, databases, and/or web applications daily. Document pertinent information in COVID-19 contact tracing forms, and data entry while adhering to protocols for completeness, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Other duties as needed.

Education & Paid Experience
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college-level coursework and two years of the public or private health agency, physician’s office or volunteer health agency, or other related experience involving frequent public contact.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a health care environment is preferred but not required.
